19/09/2010 - Spain, Madrid
The boys had early departures after lunch so we all had an early lunch (for the spanish) and then Craig headed off. We walked with Mitch to the museo del prado to pick up a souvenir and then he was off. Liz and I were wondering what we were going to do for the day and we'd seen what we had wanted to. That decision was then made easy. Outside the museo del prado the streets were barricaded off, as it turns out the last stage of La Vuelta was on today. Decision made, we stayed and watched the race. It was awesome. The blokes go so fast it's unbelievable and to see how the peleton controls the race was amazing. And they also gave out free stuff which I love. We were very very lucky to have such a great experience.
NB: La Vuelta is one of the three 'Great' road races, the others being the Giro d'Italia and of course Le Tour de France.
The photos are of the madmen on the bikes and i've included a video of when they were only just cruising.

Mate, get down and watch them, they really are amazing. I know Australia and especially Geelong has an anti cyclist mentality, which, is too stupid to comprehend, but check them out.

Mate they were just sensational! What a spectacle! went to two of the days they raced and couldn't get enough of it! The Austrian team ran a red light on Bellarine highway early in the morning when I was going to work. Lucky I was alert or they would have been sauerkraut!
