I took a day trip by Hydrofoil out to Peterhof. The locals raved about the place and Liz also recommended it strongly. It's known as the gold Palace and was someone's place at one stage. I didn't bother going inside as palace's are a bit samey for me and it also cost and arm and a leg. I did however walk the grounds which was pretty relaxing.
