14/02/2011 - Chile, San Pedro de Atacama to Bolivia, Atacama Desert

The first day of a three day tour through the desert and salt flats.  We figured out very quickly that we were oversold by the sales agent, but, his exaggerations could not dampen the amazing views we were encountering.  I had a very short burst of strong altitude sickness at 4,500 meters, but, slowly acclimatised during the day and managed to get up to 4,700 meters.  Sleeping was difficult at 4,200 meters as everyone had a headache.  But still, it was an amazing day.
