14/08/2010 - Russia, Moscow
Arrived early on the overnight train, crossed town on the amazing Metro system and checked into the hostel at 8am. Grabbed a shower, some breakfast and relaxed for a bit and then I went sightseeing. First stop was Red Square which was rather busy so I headed into the Kremlin. It's not too big, but it is well worth a visit. I always find it interesting that a country that was once extremely atheist to be anti-religious has the most amazing churches with 5 in the Kremlin alone. Well worth the visit.
I then went down to see the statue of Peter the Great. It is the most ridiculous thing that I have ever seen in my life, you can judge for yourself from the photo that I addded.
Next it was onto Gorky Park, which is actually a cheesy amusement park, and yes, the song was playing in my head as I walked around.
I then followed the Garden ring past Arbat and back to Pushkin square. I was taken by Moscow, an excellent city to be a tourist, although, I'm not too sure that it would be an excellent city to live.
The photos are of a red star on one of the Kremlin towers, one of the churches in the Kremlin and the world's most insane statue.
