We are now officially going to the Galapagos. When we left the UK, the Galapagos was not on our plans and we thought it was mainly for divers and were also worried about the effect tourism is having on the ecology. However, after speaking to so many people who have been, the ecological fears were dissuaded as the better operators are quite eco-friendly and none were divers so ticks on all counts. We are going with a company called Surtrek and will be on the 'Great Odyssey', a luxury motorboat with berths for 16 guests. We leave on Thursday and can't wait. We spent the afternoon walking to the Maxi Market to get some fresh veg to cook for dinner. A really good day.
The photo is of some unusual motifs on the Ecuadorean version of the Arc de Triumphe.
