09/05/2011 - Ecuador, Isabela Island to Santiago Island (Galapagos)

Another night cruise this time to Santiago Island.  Today in the morning we landed on a secluded beach used by sea turtles to lay their eggs.  We had a short walk along the beach followed by some more snorkelling.  The snorkelling was great.  I spent some brief time with two more penguins, another sea lion and saw blue footed boobies dive bombing for fish.  All this along with a huge array of reef fish made a top notch morning.  In the afternoon we visited a fur seal colony and then went snorkelling again.  This time we were swamped by sea lions.  Some playing for minutes, others cruising by, checking us out and continuing on.  This snorkelling was so great I didn't want to leave.  It was a good last visit for the trip.

The photos are of Santiago Island, four photos of a magnificent frigate, Santiago Island, an Ecuadorian flag and panga (zodiac boat), blue footed boobies dive bombing,  american oyster catchers, ghost crabs on the beach (it's a long shot because they disappear down holes when you get within 10m), a marine iguana, a sally lightfoot crab, a marine iguana, lots of sally lightfoot crabs, lots of marine iguanas, a marine iguana, a darwin finch, a heron, four photos of fur seals and a lava lizard.
